Seminoles Keeps Open Water National Teamer Cadence Fort In State for 2023

NEW COMMIT: Florida State University has earned a big in-state verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season from U.S. Open Water National Teamer Cadence Fort of Estero, Florida.
Regarding her commitment:
“So excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic careers at Florida State University. Beyond blessed to be given this opportunity to rep the garnet and gold!! GO NOLES!!!!”
Fort trains year-round with Gulf Coast Swim Team and is a member of the U.S. Open Water National Team. She earned a spot on the national team after finishing sixth in the 10k at the 2021 Open Water National Championships.
In the pool, she finished second in both the 1000 free and mile at the Florida Senior Spring Championships and placed 25th in the mile at Juniors East this past short course season.
Her best times include:
- 1650 free – 16:53.47
- 1000 free – 9:56.89
- 500 free – 4:54.77
- 200 free – 1:52.83
Currently a junior at Estero High School, Fort won the 500 free at the Florida 2A State Championships as a freshman. She was the runner-up in the 500 free in 2021 while also taking fifth in the 200 free, a year after racing to respective third- and sixth-place finishes during her sophomore season.
