Seminoles Keep Another One In State for 2020 After Receiving Verbal Commitment from Sarah Evans
NEW COMMIT: Florida State University has scored another in-state verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from sprinter Sarah Evans of Fort Pierce, Fla.
She will join fellow Sunshine State native Julia Brzozowski of Sarasota in Tallahassee as a member of the Seminoles’ Class of 2026.
She told Swimming World:

A U.S. Open qualifier, Evans does her club swimming with Indian River Aquatics and placed eighth in the 50m free and 13th in the 100m back at the Florida OT Qualifier in February. She finaled in the 50 free at Juniors East in December and raced six events at NCSAs in March 2019.
Last summer, she won both the 50m free and 100m back at the Florida LCM Age Group Championships before going on to secure bronze medals in those two events at Florida LCM Seniors. Evans also raced to seventh place in the 50m free at Greensboro Futures.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.10
- 100 free – 51.14
- 50 back – 26.92
- 100 back – 55.61
- 100 fly – 55.91
Currently a junior at Port Saint Lucie High School, Evans is already a three-time Florida State Championship finalist. She was the 50 free runner-up at the 3A meet as a sophomore after taking second in the 50 free as well as fifth in the 100 back at the 2A meet during her rookie campaign.
She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.
When she arrives on campus at the start of the 2022-23 season, Evans will add her talents to a training group led by Kertu Ly Alnek, Tania Quaglieri, and Hannah Womer. Under head coach Neal Studd, the Seminoles finished seventh overall in the team standings at the 2020 ACC Championships.
