Scott Buff Blasts Meet Record 45.40 to Win 100 Butterfly At NCSA Championships
Scott Buff of the Greater Toledo Aquatic Club put together the top performance during Friday night’s action at the National Club Swimming Association Championships in Orlando. Racing the 100-yard butterfly, Buff produced a meet-record time of 45.40 to win the event by more than a second over Landon Gentry, who touched the wall in 46.76.
In the women’s 100 fly, Tess Howley and Levenia Sim engaged in a sensational duel, with Howley narrowly getting the victory in 52.29, and Sim stopping the clock in 52.36. Meanwhile, Lucy Thomas registered a dominant decision in the 100-yard breaststroke, as she covered the four laps in 58.93, the only sub-59 marker of the night.
Nate Germonprez, who won the 200 breaststroke earlier in the meet, made it a double when he won in the 100-yard distance. Germonprez went 53.04. Other victories were claimed in the 500 freestyle events by Giovanni Linscheer (4:22.50) and Madison Smith (4:44.62).
