Sarah Sjostrom, Cate Campbell Tie for Top Seed in 100 Free Prelims at 2015 FINA World Championships

Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom and Australia’s Cate Campbell tied for the top seed in the women’s 100-meter free prelims at the 2015 FINA World Championships.
Sjostrom and Campbell both hit the wall in 53.22s. Campbell is tied with Femke Heemskerk for the top-ranked times in the world as they share 52.69s. Sjostrom is a close third with a 52.97 – the only other sub-53 of the year.
Australia’s Bronte Campbell qualified third today in 53.50, off her fourth-ranked 53.04 from this year as well.
The Netherlands’ Ranomi Kromowidjojo (53.85) and Heemskerk (53.89) qualified fourth and fifth, while China’s Shen Duo posted a sixth-seeded 53.93.
USA’s Simone Manuel rounded out the sub-54s with a seventh-seeded time of 53.99.
France’s Charlotte Bonnet (54.01), Sweden’s Michelle Coleman (54.10), USA’s Missy Franklin (54.22) and Japan’s Miki Uchida (54.22) are among the top 11 to make the semis.
China’s Zhu Menghui (54.41), Canada’s Chantal Van Landeghem (54.54), Russia’s Natalia Lovtcova (54.68) and Denmark’s Pernille Blume (54.72) rounded out the top 15.
Russia’s Veronika Popova and Belarus’ Aliaksandra Herasimenia set up a 16th-place swimoff with matching 54.90s.
