NEW COMMIT: San Clemente, Calif. native Mike Maurer has announced his in-state verbal commitment to Biola University and will suit up for the Eagles in the fall of 2020.
Maurer does his club swimming with San Clemente Aquatic Team and placed 14th in the 200m fly this past summer at Santa Clarita Sectionals before going on to take 11th in the 100m fly at the Junior Olympics. Last winter, he raced five events at Carlsbad Sectionals after achieving a best time at CA NV Sectionals. Also competing for Santa Margarita Catholic, Maurer has raced at the CIF Southern DI Section meet the past two seasons.
His best times include:
- 200 fly – 1:53.81
- 400 IM – 4:11.14
- 200 free – 1:46.64
- 500 free – 4:44.24
- 1650 free – 16:54.52
Maurer will make a big impact for Biola when he arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024. He would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200/500 free, 400 IM, and 200 fly at the PCSC Championships where Biola finished fourth overall in the team standings.
