After finishing the final session of the 2016 Men’s NCAA D1 Championships Cal teammates Ryan Murphy and Joshua Prenot took time to sit down with Swimming World and reflect on the final day of racing along with training for the future.
Murphy delivered a scorching time in the 200 back to finish in a record-breaking time of 1:35.73. Not only did Murphy break both the NCAA and American records in the event, but that was also his third consecutive national title in that event.
While Prenot finished second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:49.38, he had nothing but kind words for the event winner Will Licon of Texas. Prenot spoke highly of Licon mentioning that
“I’m a really competitive guy. I typically don’t enjoy seeing people I compete with do really well, but that’s not really the case with Will. He’s a good dude; I love seeing the guy have success and he killed it this weekend.”
