IRVINE, California, August 7. ALTHOUGH complete heat sheets are not yet available pending a swimoff in the men’s 50-meter fly, USA Swimming has posted the men’s 200-meter freestyle start lists and Ryan Lochte has elected to scratch out of the 200-meter freestyle finale to focus on winning the 200-meter backstroke at the USA Swimming Senior Nationals.
Club Wolverine’s Michael Wynalda gets pulled into the championship final that will include NBAC swimmers Matt McLean and Conor Dwyer battling it out at the top.
Lochte likely believes he already has done enough to get a look at the men’s 800-meter freestyle relay at Pan Pacific Championships, and really just wants to make sure he keeps his win streak alive in the 200-meter backstroke event.
