Ryan Lochte Headlining Team USA at BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series
Ryan Lochte will be headlining Team USA at the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series. USA Swimming has announced its line up for the 2015 BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series which takes place on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 January at HBF Stadium.
Leading team USA is 11-time Olympic medallist Ryan Lochte and dual Olympic Gold medallist Cullen Jones.
Lochte who was recently in Australia for the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships said he is looking forward to coming back to Australia to compete for the first time in the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series.
“The Australian swim team always presents a tough challenge, so to come back to Australia and compete against them is a great racing opportunity for Team USA,” said Lochte.
Perth has a great history of hosting international swimming at HBF Stadium, and this event only adds to that legacy. This meet is a great chance for fans to come and see some world-class swimming.”
The event will see some of the biggest names in world swimming go head-to-head over the two nights, including USA swimmer Tyler Clary and Aussie Mitch Larkin who won gold and bronze respectively at Pan Pacific’s in the 200m backstroke.
Olympic medallists Elizabeth Beisel, Conor Dwyer and Shannon Vreeland will also join the line-up for Perth, in what will be a fast paced format of swimming broadcast live on Network Ten’s OneHD.
Swimming Australia’s Chief Executive Officer Mark Anderson said the inclusion of the USA will only increase the awareness of the event and the demand for broadcast internationally.
“For the Australian Swim Team to race against some of their most rivalled competitors, Team USA, it will bring a fantastic atmosphere to the grand stand and only increase the demand for international broadcast, which is an incredible opportunity to grow the sport and showcase what Western Australia has to offer”, said Anderson.
The BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series is exclusive to Western Australia, managed by Swimming Australia and supported by the Western Australian Government through Tourism WA and BHP Billiton.

The article says the team is 24 members strong, but when the “team” is listed, only 17 names, (7 men and 10 women) are noted. Who is missing? Is there any telecast/webcast available in the US?
Good catch. Looks like a carry over from their Australian post.
