Ryan Lochte Emotional On Dancing With The Stars Week Five
Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte continued his run on the ABC show Dancing with the Stars, and week five brought what the judges called by far Lochte’s best performance.
Lochte and partner Cheryl Burke danced Contemporary to Leon Russell’s “A Song for You” and earned scores of 8 from each of the three judges. None of the nine pairs still competing on the show (of the original 13) were eliminated this week.
In the dance, the stars were asked to commemorate the best year of his life, which Lochte said was 2008. At the Olympic Games that year, he won his first individual gold medal with a world record-setting performance in the men’s 200 back. Lochte then dedicated the dance to his mother, Ileana Lochte, for all that she had done to support him through the years—and immediately after finishing, he sought her out in the stands for a hug.

Even before he danced Monday night, it had been an eventful week for Lochte, as he proposed to his girlfriend Kayla Reid Sunday evening.
Lochte and Burke will dance again Monday, Oct. 17 at 8 p.m.
