Ryan Lochte Allegedly Held At Gun Point According To His Mother

USA Today has reported that earlier on Sunday morning Olympic veteran Ryan Lochte and at least one other U.S. teammate were held at gunpoint. The news was provided to USA Today by Lochte’s mother, Ileana Lochte, who noted “I think they’re all shaken up….they just took their wallets and basically that was it.”
According to Ileana, Lochte and at least one other teammate were on their way to meet Brazilian swimmer Thiago Pereira when their cab stopped for gas. While stopped, the group was held up by individuals holding guns and knives who demanded to be given their wallets.
However comments from both David Marsh, Lochte’s personal coach back in the U.S. and head women’s coach for the Olympic team, and a spokesman from the IOC refuted Ileana’s statements.
Responding to inquiries about the robbery via text, Marsh explained that Lochte “was not held up” and that he was trying to figure out what happened.
Mark Adams, spokesman of the IOC, was a little more forward, calling the attack “absolutely not true.”
Lochte, himself, has not been able to be reached for comment so far.
