Ruta Meilutyte 2nd in World in 100 Breast With Sheffield Swim
Ruta Meilutyte jumped to second in the world in the women’s 100-meter breast today at the Sheffield Premier Meet.
Meilutyte topped the 100-meter breast finale with a time of 1:05.99. That’s the second 1:05 of the year with Yuliya Efimova posting a world-best 1:05.89 at the Mission Viejo Invitational in her first post-doping ban swim.
Ben Proud made some noise in the men’s 50-meter free with a 22.27 for the win. That was just off his 10th-ranked 22.25 from the British University Championships.
Sophie Smith topped the women’s 50-meter fly in 27.40. Smith then doubled up with a 1:00.10 in the women’s 100-meter fly.
Shauna Lee won the women’s 200-meter free in 2:00.61, while Lewis Clifford-Stephen took home the men’s 50-meter breast in 28.72.
Joseph Hulme claimed the men’s 100-meter back title in 56.85, while Eliza Duffy took the women’s 200-meter back crown in 2:15.27.
Richard Spoor earned the men’s 200-meter breast title in 2:17.05. Abbie Wood won the women’s 200-meter IM in 2:19.06.
Adam Fawl topped the men’s 200-meter fly in 2:04.56, while Mindaugus Sadauskas won the men’s 100-meter free in 51.39.
Cassie Wild claimed the women’s 50-meter back title in 30.00.
