Russian Olympic Medalist Evgeny Korotyshkin Announces Retirement

Evgeny Korotyshkin, Olympic silver medalist at the 2012 Summer Games, has announced his retirement from the sport of swimming.

In 2012 Korotyshkin was the silver medalist in the men’s 100-meter butterfly with a time of 51.44, finishing .23 seconds behind gold-medalist Michael Phelps.

Korotyshkin is a three-time World Champion in short course and has had strong showings at the FINA European Championship throughout the years.

Speaking to the press, Korotyshkin announced, “I finish my career in the sport….before the start of the championship of Russia.”
