Robert Finke, Katelyn Kilpatrick Share Florida Swim Network Swim of the Night at FLAGS
GAINESVILLE, Florida, July 20. ST. Petersburg’s Robert Finke and Central Florida’s Katelyn Kilpatrick shared the final Florida Swim Network Swim of the Night at the Florida Age Group State Championships this evening in Gainesville.
St. Petersburg’s Robert Finke, who earned the Swim of the Night honor on the first night with a meet record 8:25.20 in the 800-meter freestyle did it again in the boys 13-14 1500-meter freestyle. With his sisters Summer and Autumn having a chance to commentate the race on Florida Swim Network, Finke raced to a 15:56.82. It was Finke’s first time under 16:00, beating his previous best of 16:12.70 from the Orlando stop of the Arena Grand Prix.
Central Florida Marlin Katelyn Kilpatrick topped the 13-14 girls 1500-meter freestyle as a 13 year old with a 17:12.21. With only two 1500 frees to her credit prior to the night, she managed to cut more than minute off her previous best of 18:16.74 from the Sunshine State Games in June. She also won the age division by 44 seconds.
