Rob Zamorano Hired to Lead SCAD Swimming Programs
The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) last week hired Rob Zamorano as its head men’s and women’s swimming coach.
Zamorano spent two seasons as an assistant coach at TCU. He began his coaching career at Florida State in 2021-22, working with Club Seminole as well.
“I’m incredibly blessed and grateful to have been offered the opportunity to lead this historic program,” Zamorano said in a university statement. “The support from Amanda and the rest of the athletics department has been incredible and I’m excited to be able to contribute to the vision of what this athletics department is trying to do.”
Zamorano swam at Barton College, a Division II program. He graduated with a double major in exercise science and psychology in 2020 and remains one of the program’s top distance swimmers in history.
The NAIA program finished seventh in the women’s standings at the national championships last year and fifth in the men’s. The women were second nationally in 2022 and 2023, with the men second nationally in 2022.
“I am thrilled to welcome Rob to our staff,” director of athletics Amanda Haverstick said. “It was extremely important to find an exceptional fit to carry on our swimming program’s legacy of success. From initial conversations to time spent with Rob on campus, it was exciting to hear his passion for coaching and his vision for SCAD swimming as our new head coach. I look forward to watching the program thrive under his leadership.”
