Rikke Moller Pedersen Unleashes Top-Ranked 2:21 in 200 Breast
Rikke Moller Pedersen crushed the standing world-best time this year in the women’s 200-meter breast at the Danish Open.
No one had been faster than 2:23 this year and Pedersen just threw down a scorching 2:21.60 with no competition in the pool. Her time blasted the 2:23.03 set by Kanako Watanabe at the NSW State Championships for the top time in the world.
Jenna Laukkanen finished second overall with a 2:27.53, while Martina Moravcikova placed third in 2:28.84.
Eyglo Osk Gustafsdottir lowered the Nordic and Icelandic record in the women’s 200-meter back.
Gustafsdottir clocked a top time of 2:09.86 for the win. That swim not only downed her previous Icelandic record of 2:10.38 from 2013, it also cleared Pernille Larsen’s Nordic mark of 2:10.27 from 2009. That put Gustafsdottir sixth in the world this year with the swim.
Simona Baumrtova took second tonight in 2:11.33 with Barbara Zavadova lpacing third in the 200-meter back with a 2:13.71.
Pal Joensen topped the men’s 1500 free in 15:13.88, off his fifth-ranked season best of 15:10.35 from the Marseilles stop of the Golden Tour. Wojciech Wojdak took second in 15:15.57 with Filip Zaborowski earning third in 15:32.07.
Martina Elhenicka won the women’s 1500-meter freestyle in 16:55.67 to take ninth in the world rankings this year. Anna Boutrup snared second in 17:03.20 with Laura Lajunen placing third in 17:06.99.
Mateusz Wysoczynski claimed the men’s 200-meter back crown in 2:02.60 with Lavrans Solli placing second in 2:03.29. Thomas Liess wound up third in 2:06.78.
Pawel Korzeniowski won the men’s 100-meter free in 49.89, while Andrey Govorov took second in 50.07. Kacper Majchrzak snared third in 50.18.
Pernille Blume snagged the women’s 100-meter free in 54.62 with Louise Hansson taking second in 54.94. Cecilie Waage Johannessen placed third in 55.50.
Matti Mattson topped the men’s 200-meter breast in 2:12.25 with Christoph Meier taking second in 2:18.92. Marcin Stolarski placed third in 2:19.17.
