Richmond Spiders Gain Verbal From Arizona State Champion Gabbie Primiano

NEW COMMIT: The University of Richmond has received a verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Gabbie Primiano, who will suit up for the Spiders as a member of their Class of 2028.

Primiano hails from Scottsdale, Arizona, and is a Junior National-level breaststroker.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to finally announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the University of Richmond! I am endlessly grateful for my family, friends, coaches, and teammates who have supported me this far! Go spiders!!”

Primiano does her club swimming with Life Time Arizona Swim Team and most recently earned two best times at Junior Nationals in the 100m breast and 200m breast. She finished second in the 200 breast and fourth in both the 100 breast and 200 IM, at Arizona Seniors in March.

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 29.61
  • 100 breast – 1:02.76
  • 200 breast – 2:15.22
  • 200 IM – 2:03.60

Currently a senior at Desert Mountain High School, Primiano won the 100 breast and 200 IM at the Arizona DII State Championships in 2022 as a junior. She finished second and fourth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

She’s a great pickup for the Spiders both individually and for medley relays. Her best 100 breast time already ranks sixth all-time in program history, while her 200 breast ranks fifth.
