Richmond Frosh Brooke Boncher Leads Spider Past Wingate, but They Fall to Maryland
COLLEGE PARK, Md., Nov. 2. RICHMOND freshman Brooke Boncher (West Newbury, Mass.) added her name to Richmond's record book in the 50-yard freestyle as the Spiders competed against Maryland and Wingate today.
Boncher set the new time to beat for the 50-yard freestyle at 23.64. She also finished first in the 100-yard butterfly.
Teammate sophomore Mary Adams (Williamsburg, Va.) grabbed some first place finishes. Adams propelled herself to a 1:52.65 200-yard freestyle, a little
under two seconds shy of Sue Wagner's 1986 record of 1:50.80. Adams finished the 200-yard individual medley in 2:06.02 to get first place.
The Spiders (3-3) downed Wingate 209-54, but fell to Maryland 180-119.
Richmond swimming and diving returns to the Robins Center Natatorium on Saturday, November 16 at noon. The Spiders will host William & Mary and Penn.
