Reece Whitley Downs SCY 200 Breast 17-18 NAG Record
Reece Whitley posted several strong swims over the course of the 2017 USA Swimming AT&t Winter Nationals. On night three he succeeded in posting a 100 breast time of 51.81 that would currently lead the NCAA rankings for the 2017-18 season, before adding another National Age Group (NAG) record to his name on night four.
Whitley added the 17-18 age group NAG record in the 200 yard breast while swimming in the ‘A’ final. He entered the final tied for the top seed with Olympian Cody Miller, but concluded the race with a highly successful second place finish. His time of 1:51.43 eclipsed Andrew Seliskar’s, his soon-to-be teammate at Cal, time of 1:51.57 from 2015.
Comparable splits:
- Whitley (2017): 25.65, 28.27, 28.66, 28.85 – 1:51.43
- Seliskar (2015): 25.43, 28.72, 28.53, 28.89 – 1:51.57
Once again, Whitley’s time sits atop the 2017-18 season rankings for the NCAA with Georgia Tech’s Caio Pumputis owning the fastest time of the season at a 1:53.80. His time also places him as the 11th fastest on the all-time top performers list.
Congratulations
Congrats Reece! ??
