RCP Tiburon Sprint Classic: Josh Schneider Takes Home $10,000
TIBURON, California, October 16. IN the inaugural edition of the RCP Tiburon Sprint Classic, SwimMAC's Josh Schneider captured the winner-take-all $10,000 check. The meet comprised of a 50-yard free preliminary session with the top-two qualifiers duking it out for the lone prize.
Schneider knocked off Will Copeland in the final, 19.50 to 19.73. Out of prelims, Schneider had the top time with a 19.77. Copeland (19.79), Nathan Adrian (19.85) and Fred Bousquet (19.88) finished second through fourth in prelims.
Matt Grevers (20.03), Garrett Weber-Gale (20.23), Matt Targett (20.26), Ben Wildman-Tobriner (20.26), Nick Brunelli (20.35) and Josh Daniels (21.68) also took part in the event.
A head-to-head 200-yard freestyle relay also took place. Adrian (19.62), Brunelli (20.18), Targett (19.55) and Schneider (19.39) won the relay in 1:18.74. Meanwhile, Bousquet (19.70), Copeland (19.84), Weber-Gale (19.64) and Grevers (19.02) were disqualified.
The charitable event benefited Hospice By The Bay and the USA Swimming Foundation as an extension of the RCP Tiburon Mile weekend.
