SANTA CLARA, California, June 21. NBAC’s Chase Kalisz posted a sub-1:10 breaststroke split en route to fifth in the world in the men’s 400-meter IM at the Arena Grand Prix in Santa Clara.
Kalisz, who was even with the field at the 200, smashed everyone with a sizzling breaststroke split to move to fifth in the world with a 4:11.71 for a five-second triumph. His performance tonight is the second-best in his career, bettering the 4:11.83 he used to win Nationals last year. His best time ever is a 4:09.22 from the World Championships last summer.
Gators’ Sebastien Rousseau wound up taking second in 4:17.49, while Dynamo’s Jay Litherland snared third in 4:18.29 to round out the podium-placers.
