SANTA CLARA, California, June 21. STANFORD’s Felicia Lee was the only swimmer to break 1:00 today in the women’s 100-meter fly, and that provided her with the win tonight at the Arena Grand Prix in Santa Clara.
Lee, who posted a 59.62 to lead qualifying in prelims, matched that effort again tonight with a 59.62 for the win. California’s Kelly Naze (1:00.22) and Bruins’ Noelle Tarazona (1:00.38) battled for second in the finale.
Hong Kong’s Hang Yu Sze (1:00.59) and Carmel’s Veronica Burchill (1:00.75) also broke 1:01 in the A final, while Theresa Michalak (1:01.29), Mexico’s Liliana Ibanez Lopez (1:01.56), Missouri’s Dani Barbiea (1:01.63) and Bulldogs’ Lauren Harrington (1:01.77) also put up times in the championship heat .
