Among the highlights of the list, Nathan Adrian is the top seed in the men’s 50 and 100 free, while Ryan Murphy leads the field inboth the 100 and 200 back. The 100 back should be especially competitive, with Matt Grevers, Jacob Pebley and Justin Ress present in the field. Chase Kalisz will be in town along with his Georgia pro teammates, and he is first in both the 200 and 400 IM.
Tom Shields leads the field in the men’s 50 and 100 fly, with Jack Conger first in the 200 fly and 200 free. Zane Grothe returns to competition in the men’s freestyle events for the first time since setting a pair of American records at Winter Nationals, and the breaststroke fields will include Nic Fink, Josh Prenot, Andrew Wilson, Will Licon and Reece Whitley.
The women’s meet, while not quite as deep, will see Katie Meili return to racing for the first time since the World Championships, after she recently began law school. Mallory Comerford and Leah Smith highlight the freestyle races, IMers Melanie Margalis and Madisyn Cox will have to fend with Canadian Sydney Pickrem.
Additionally, Dana Vollmer will return to her first meet since giving birth to her second child, Arlen. Vollmer is entered in the 50 free and 50 fly this weekend.
Also competing for Canada is Taylor Ruck, who is among the top seeds in both the 100 and 200 free and 100 and 200 back. Her competition in the backstrokes will include Olivia Smoliga in the 100 and fellow teenager Regan Smith in both events.
China will also have a presence at the meet, with 15-year-old World Champs medalist Li Bingjie and veteran freestyler Shen Duo both on the psych sheet.
