On the cover:

With this issue, SWIMMING TECHNIQUE begins a new focused approach to the four competitive swimming strokes. Each of the four yearly issues will focus on a stroke, discussing training methods and drills of some of the top coaches in the country, approaching the stroke psychologically, a physiological break-down of the stroke and a dry-land training program. In this issue we focus on butterfly. The remaining strokes (in IM order) will be covered in subsequent issues.
