On the cover

There’s nothing new under the sun or on the pool deck, some would have you believe. In a scene reminiscent of an ancient Socratic dialogue, swimmers and coach discuss the efficacy of a stroke drill they have just tried. On page 11 of this issue, Technical Editor Bob Hopper describes the process of experiential coaching, in which the swimmer is the integral part of the learning cycle. After receiving a number of letters in response to his November-January column, The CuttingEdge, in which he mentioned the idea, Dr. Bob obliges SWIMMING TECHNIQUE’S readers with the first of a pro two-part series on the technique of experiential coaching.
