Princeton’s Raunak Khosla Sets Ivy League Record on Way to Conference Crown in 200 IM
Behind a superb breaststroke leg that vaulted him into the lead, Princeton’s Raunak Khosla claimed victory in the 200-yard individual medley at the Ivy League Men’s Championships on Thursday night. Racing in his home pool, Khosla clocked a time of 1:41.88 to better his conference record of 1:42.80, which was set during the 2019 season. His time should be an easy qualifier for next month’s NCAA Championships in Atlanta.
Khosla sat in third place after the opening butterfly leg and was tied for fourth at the midway point of the race, but the junior covered the breaststroke leg in 28.33 to surge into first place, where he remained after checking in with a freestyle split of 24.77. He was followed in second place by Harvard’s Jacob Johnson, who touched the wall in 1:43.82.
In the first event of the night, the Princeton tandem of Dylan Porges and Nicholas Lim went one-two in the 500 freestyle, with Porges prevailing in 4:17.84. Lim was not far behind in 4:18.46, and the duo contributed 60 points for the Tigers in the team scoring.
Harvard teammates Mahlon Reihman and Dean Farris were separated by the slimmest margins in the 50 freestyle, as Reihman won the event in 19.42, with Farris going 19.43. Farris, who powered a pair of Harvard relays to victories on the opening night of competition, was faster during the morning prelims, where he registered a time of 19.37. Reihman also helped Harvard to a conference record in the 200 freestyle relay, with the Crimson posting a time of 1:17.14.
Columbia’s Jonathan Suckow won the one-meter diving title with a score of 398.25, good for a conference record.
Harvard heads into Day Three of action with a 570-567 edge over Princeton.
