Poseidon Swimming’s Josh Fisher Verbally Commits to Kentucky for 2023-24

NEW COMMIT: The University of Kentucky has picked up a new verbal commitment for its growing Class of 2027 from Josh Fisher of Chesterfield, Virginia.

He will join Lance JohnsonAJ Abram and Isaac Fleig in Lexington in the fall of 2023.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Kentucky! Thank you to Coach Jorgensen and Coach Camper for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I want to give all the glory to God and thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches for their support. I can’t wait to be a part of Big Blue Nation! Go Cats!”

Fisher, who trains with Poseidon Swimming, finaled in the 100m back and 200m IM at Richmond Futures this past summer after placing ninth and fifth, respectively, in those events at Virginia LCM Seniors. Back in March, he raced to 16th in the 100 back at the NCSA Championships.

Currently a junior at Veritas School, Fisher placed third in the 100 back and fourth in the 200 IM at the VISAA Championships as a sophomore. He finished fourth in the 100 back during his freshman season.

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 49.92
  • 200 back – 1:51.04
  • 200 IM – 1:53.30

Under head coach Lars Jorgensen, the Wildcats finished seventh at the 2021 SEC Championships with 759 points. Their point total surpassed the previous program record of 724 points scored the year prior and was the fifth consecutive year the men’s team has bested the school mark.

Kentucky is in an excellent position to continue moving up the rankings this season, as five of the eight relay swimmers, 11 of the 15 point scorers, and 330 of the 559 individual points scored are back in Lexington once again.

The Wildcats also have Phillip KhennerSean MackeyDrew JohnsonKevin GlennonLevi SandidgeRyan MeraniBrady McInerneyLogan Smith and Logan Ingerick joining the program in 2022.
