At the recent World Championships in Fukuoka, the power and depth of women’s swimming was on full display. A year shy of the start of the Olympic Games in Paris, several women delivered sensational performances at the Marine Messe Hall. The triumvirate of Mollie O’Callaghan, Kaylee McKeown and Ariarne Titmus starred as Australia topped the gold-medal count and built serious momentum heading into 2024.
Meanwhile, American Katie Ledecky continued her distance-freestyle dominance by capturing gold medals in the 800 freestyle and 1500 freestyle, the shorter distance marking her sixth consecutive crown in the event. Additionally, Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom and Canadian Summer McIntosh claimed two gold medals each, with Sjostrom setting a world record in the 50 freestyle.
