Plenty More Recruits Make College Decisions Over Weekend

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 19. ON top of Swimming World six star Will Freeman making the decision to go to Georgia, plenty of other top stars made their college pledges over the weekend.

Five star Mateo De Angulo gave Florida State a second five star. Jonathan Taddeo also previously committed to FSU. De Angulo owns long course times that would clear the U.S. long course senior national cuts in the 200-meter free (1:52.37), 400-meter free (3:57.82), 1500-meter free (15:49.50) and 200-meter fly (2:03.84).

Five star Chase Bloch gave USC another high level commit. Block, who swims for Class Aquatics and preps at Oak Christian, owns long course senior national cuts in the 200-meter free (1:52.19), 400-meter free (3:58.88), 100-meter back (57.83), 200-meter back (2:02.51) and 100-meter fly (54.27). He also owns NCAA Division I B cuts in the 200-yard free (1:37.04) and 100-yard fly (48.03).

USC is developing a dominant class with a six star and three other five stars. Six star Kasey Carlson and five stars Nick Karpov, Vlad Morozov and Jack Wagner have also committed to USC.

Five star Julie Kucherich will head to the Southeastern Conference after committing to Arkansas. Kucherich, who swims for York YMCA and preps at York Suburban High, owns long course senior national cuts in the 200-meter back (2:17.49) and 400-meter IM (4:50.39).

Four star Carly Mercer also made the call to go to Arkansas. Mercer, who swims for the Southeastern Swim Club and preps at Hamilton Southeastern, owns a long course senior national cut in the 50-meter free (26.52).

They join five star Elizabeth Braun and three star Aubrey Hertzler as Arkansas verbals.

Arizona earned its second five star commit of the recruiting season. Mitch Friedemann, who swims for Schroeder and preps at Arrowhead, owns long course senior national cuts in the 100-meter free (51.05) and 100-meter back (56.74). He also owns a B cut in the 100-yard back (48.79). He joins Aubrey Peacock as a future Wildcat.

Four star Jonathan Buerger decided to attend Virginia. Buerger, who swims for Allegheny North Swim Club and preps for North Allegheny, owns a pair of NCAA Division I B cuts in the 200-yard free (1:38.05) and 500-yard free (4:24.00).

Four star Claire Singley is headed to the Big Ten after committing to Penn State. Singley, who swims for the North Texas Nadadores and preps at Carroll Senior High, owns a long course senior nationals cut in the 400-meter IM (4:56.99).
