Pleasanton Seahawk Iris Brand Chooses Wisconsin

PLEASANTON, California, September 12. ONE of the top 10 swimmers in the State of California for the Class of 2015 has decided to fly the coop as Pleasanton Seahawk Iris Brand committed to the University of Wisconsin.
Brand, who is ranked 52nd in the Class of 2015 and ninth in the State of California by CollegeSwimming.com, is a sprinter who should help the Badgers after she completes her senior year at Amador Valley High.
Brand holds a 22.96 in the 50-yard free and a 49.85 in the 100-yard free from the 2013 NCS Championships, before focusing a bit more on her long course swimming this year. She wound up posting a 56.97 in the 100-meter free in the 2014 Junior Nationals, and already had a 26.18 in the 50-meter free to her credit from an earlier edition.
Brand also has some international experience, having participated at both the 2012 Eindhoven Swim Cup, where she clocked a 2:21.11 in the 200-meter backstroke, and at the FINA World Cup stop in Tokyo. In Tokyo, she popped a 26.17 in 50-meter freestyle short course competition.
She finished her junior season as a 10-time NISCA All-American at Amador Valley, securing three more certificates her junior season in the 50-yard free, 100-yard free and as part of Amador Valley’s 400-yard free relay.
