Pitt Rounds Up 2021 Verbal Commitment from Maryland State Champion Jill Berger
NEW COMMIT: Freestyler and butterflyer Jill Berger of Bethesda, Md. has announced her decision to continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Pittsburgh beginning in the fall of 2021.
She will join Mia Sunseri as a member of the Panthers’ class of 2025.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited to announce my commitment to the University of Pittsburgh. I can’t wait to be part of such an amazing school and team. Hail to Pitt!”
Berger swims year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and owns four Junior National standards. She most recently earned silver in the 200 free at Potomac Valley Seniors after earning five best times at the NCAP Invitational. Last summer, she took fifth in the 200m free at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors before going on to take 18th in that event at NCSAs.
Her best times include:
- 100 free – 51.83
- 200 free – 1:49.23
- 500 free – 4:54.80
- 100 fly – 55.76
- 200 fly – 2:01.18
Also competing for Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, Berger is a six-time Maryland 3A/4A State Championship finalist. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 fly and was the 200 IM runner-up as a junior while placing second in the 200 free and third in the 100 free during her sophomore season.
