Pitt Begins 2023 Recruiting With Verbal From Upper Arlington Swim Club’s Grant Kennedy

NEW COMMIT: The University of Pittsburgh has received their first verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Grant Kennedy of Columbus, Ohio.

He told Swimming World:

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Pittsburgh.  I want to thank my coaches, family, friends and teammates for their support.  I am grateful and look forward to becoming a Panther! #H2P”

A talented backstroker, Kennedy trains year-round with Upper Arlington Swim Club and placed fifth in the 200m back this past summer at Richmond Futures after taking seventh in that event at Geneva Sectionals. He also won six events at the Ohio Long Course Championships.

His best times include:

  • 100 back – 51.98
  • 200 back – 1:51.80
  • 100m back – 58.65
  • 200m back – 2:06.61

Currently a junior at Upper Arlington High School, Kennedy raced the 100 back at the 2021 Ohio State Championships. He finished sixth in the 100 back and eighth in the 100 fly as the DI District Championships his sophomore season, too.
