Abigail German has made a verbal commitment to the University of Notre Dame, according to her high school’s Twitter. The high school senior swims for the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins in Pennsylvania.
German’s best event is the 100 breaststroke. She also puts together a solid 200 IM and can also swim sprint freestyle.
German’s best times:
100 Breaststroke: 1:02.48
200 IM: 2:05.16
50/100 Freestyle: 24.57/52.46
While her best time in the 200 breaststroke is only a 2:29.89, USA Swimming only has record of German swimming the event twice in her career, suggesting that there is certainly room for improvement.
German was the AA Pennsylvania High School State Champion in the 100 breaststroke last year. At the 2016 ACC Championships, German would have snuck into the B final with her lifetime best. Of the three ND swimmers who posted times faster than German’s, only Alyssa Storino will still be on campus next fall. The then senior will have a year to train with German. Notre Dame finished fifth of thirteen schools at last season’s Championships.
Last weekend Skylar Fore also gave her verbal commitment to the Fighting Irish.
