Pennsylvania 3A State Champion Maura Fluehr Sends 2021 Verbal to Nittany Lions
NEW COMMIT: In addition to Mac Sullivan, Penn State University has scored another in-state verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Maura Fluehr of Glenside, Penn.
Primarily a sprint freestyler and butterflyer, Fluehr does her club swimming with Springfield Aquatic Club and owns three Futures time standards. She raced three events at Middle Atlantic LCM Seniors this past summer after placing fifth in the 100 fly at the short course yards version of the meet in March.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to Penn State! Thank you to my friends, teammates, coaches, and family for getting me here! I can’t wait to call Happy Valley home! #WEARE”
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.87
- 100 free – 51.30
- 200 free – 1:51.49
- 100 fly – 55.69
A current junior at Springfield Township High School, Fluehr is a four-time Pennsylvania 3A state Championship finalist. She earned gold in the 100 fly and took third in the 100 free during her sophomore season while placing sixth and ninth, respectively, in those events as a freshman.
