Pennsylvania 3A State Champion Logan Richards Will Become A Tar Heel With 2023 Verbal To UNC
NEW COMMIT: The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill has received a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2023 from Junior National qualifier Logan Richards of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.
He will join Ben Delmar and Tucker Valliere in Chapel Hill as a member of the Class of 2027.
He told Swimming World:
“I am very excited and grateful to announce my verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill!! I’d like to thank my family, friends, and most importantly my coaches. Go Tar Heels!”
A solid mid-distance and distance freestyler, Richards currently swims unattached, having most recently competed for Phoenixville Branch YMCA. He was the runner-up in the 1000 free at YMCA Short Course Nationals back in the spring, also placing eighth in the 500 free. More recently, he competed at Middle Atlantic LCM Seniors where he earned one lifetime best.
His best times include:
- 200 free – 1:40.56
- 500 free – 4:26.93
- 1000 free – 9:17.86
A rising senior at Owen J. Roberts High School, Richards won the 500 free and placed sixth in the 200 free at the 2022 Pennsylvania 3A State Championships. He won both of those events at the Pioneer Athletic Conference Championships a month prior, too.
