Pennsylvania 2A State Champion Patrick Hemingway Chooses Villanova
NEW COMMIT: Future qualifier Patrick Hemingway of Harrisburg, Pa. has announced his commitment to Villanova University and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2021.
He will join Aubrey Bowles, Joshua Brown, Henry Halloran, Andrew Mitchell, and Carson Brockette as a member of the Wildcats’ class of 2025.
He told Swimming World:
“I am proud to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Villanova University! I chose Villanova because of its strong academics, welcoming team culture, and supportive coaches. I would like to thank God, my family, my coaches, and my teammates for getting me to where I am today. #NovaNation #GoWildcats”
A talented sprinter, Hemingway does his club swimming with Keystone Aquatics and raced six events at the Middle Atlantic LCM Senior Championships in Summer 2019. He also earned two best times at Middle Atlantic SCY Seniors in March 2019 and will be swimming in the 18&U Winter Championship this weekend.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 21.02
- 100 free – 47.01
- 200 free – 1:45.22
- 50 back – 24.48
- 100 back – 51.99
Also competing for Bishop McDevitt High School where he is team captain, Hemingway is a five-time individual National Catholic Championship finalist. He placed fourth in the 50 free and ninth in the 100 back as a junior while taking eighth in the 100 free and 13th in the 50 free during his sophomore season.
As a sophomore, he led off the winning 4×100 free relay at the Pennsylvania 2A State Championships. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and the National Math Honor Society and serves as an assistant coach for the Heatherfield Hurricanes in the summer.
