Pennsylvania 2A State Champion Annie O’Dare Lends Verbal to Auburn
NEW COMMIT: The Auburn Tigers have received a new verbal commitment from Huntingdon Valley, Penn. native Annie O’Dare. She will join Ella Miller, Hannah Mattson and Shayna Fetes as members of the class of 2023.
O’Dare swims year-round with Upper Dublin Aquatic Club and has her U.S. Open cut in the 100 breast. She wrapped up her long course season at the NCSA Summer Championships where she swam six new lifetime bests. At the Middle Atlantic Senior SCY Championships in March, O’Dare set four new personal bests and was a four-time finalist.
O’Dare also represents Gwynedd Mercy Academy and has been a top performer at the Pennsylvania 2A State Championships. At the state meet as a junior, she won the 100 breast (1:02.14) and was the runner-up in the 200 IM (2:03.26). She placed third (1:04.87) and fourth (2:07.01) in those same events, respectively, as a sophomore.
She told Swimming World:
“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Auburn University! Thank you to my family, friends, and all of my coaches who have helped me so much along the way. Can’t wait for the next 4 years!! War Eagle!!”
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:02.14
- 200 breast – 2:18.46
- 200 IM – 2:03.26
- 50 free – 23.71
O’Dare will be extremely valuable to the Tigers’ breaststroke group when she arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season. She will have two years to train with top returning Auburn breaststroker Carly Cummings, who scored in the B-final of both distances at the 2018 SEC Championships.
Yay Annie!!! So excited for you!
