NEW COMMIT: Distance freestyle specialist Keira Reid of Richmond, Virginia, has expressed her verbal commitment to continue her academic and swim career at Penn State, beginning in Fall 2024.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am extremely proud and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Penn State University. There are no words that express how excited I am for this opportunity. I would like to thank my friends, family, and coaches for helping me get to where I am today. A special shout-out to the Penn State Swim and Dive coaches as well as the team for making Happy Valley feel like home! WE ARE!!!”

Reid does her club swimming with NOVA of Virginia Aquatics and had a great showing at the NCSA Championships this past spring, earning five best times and placing ninth in the mile. She then went on to place 10th in the 1500m free at Richmond Sectionals.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:54.74
  • 500 free – 4:56.92
  • 1000 free – 10:08.98
  • 1650 free – 16:46.08
  • 400 IM – 4:25.56

A rising senior at Mills E. Godwin High School, Reid finished fifth in the 500 free and sixth in the 200 free at the 2023 Virginia Class 5 State Championships. She took fifth and seventh, respectively, in those events at the Class C meet the week prior.

Her top time in the mile already would’ve scored in the top-16 at the 2023 Big Ten Championships.
