Paul Yetter Back at North Baltimore Aquatic Club as Head Senior Coach
North Baltimore Aquatic Club announced Monday evening Paul Yetter is returning to the club as Head Senior Coach. Yetter previously coached at the club from 2001 until 2009, and while there he helped coach Katie Hoff onto two Olympic teams and helped her win three Olympic medals and six World titles.
Yetter also helped develop the likes of Elizabeth Pelton, Felicia Lee, Dan Madwed, Courtney Kalisz and Brendan Morris before moving on to Auburn University in 2009 and then T2 Aquatics in Florida a year later. He succeeds Erik Posegay, who recently left to take a job coaching at Penn State. Posegay took over a year earlier when Bob Bowman became the head coach at Arizona State.

The Board of Directors of the North Baltimore Aquatic Club is pleased to announce that Head Coach Tom Himes has hired Paul Yetter as the Head Senior Coach. Coach Yetter led NBAC to consecutive USA Swimming Spring Championships (2006 & 2007) was an Assistant Coach for US Olympic Team in 2008 as well as Head Women’s Coach for US Pan American Games in 2007. Coach Yetter led Katie Hoff to two World Records and 18 American Records while coaching 12 different swimmers to 90 No. 1 National Age Group Rankings. Paul has been appointed nine times to positions on the USA National Team or Team USA squads in international competition. In 2007, he was named USA Swimming’s Developmental Coach of the Year.
Head Coach Tom Himes said, “My goal was to find a top notch coach who would be committed to the program immediately and for the long term. I believe we have found that coach with Paul Yetter and am excited for Paul to continue the NBAC legacy of providing a program of excellence.”
Paul swam for NBAC from 1990 to 1996. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1998. He has coached at Verona High School (Wisconsin), Badger Aquatics (Wisconsin), Bel Air Athletic Club (MD) and the North Baltimore Aquatic Club from 2001 until 2009. He spent one year at Auburn University before starting his most recent position as Head Coach at T2 Aquatics in Naples, Florida from 2010 until 2016.
About returning to NBAC, Paul said, “My family and I are extremely excited to make the move back to Baltimore and rejoin the NBAC family. I’d like to thank Head Coach Tom Himes and the rest of the NBAC staff, board and membership for welcoming me back to the team. I’m excited to meet our athletes and family members next month and get right to work. Let’s be the best we can be, every day, in each aspect of our lives.”
USA Swimming National Team Director Frank Busch said, “Congratulations to both NBAC and Paul. Paul’s accomplishments, at all levels, will be a great asset to NBAC. It is a natural fit for Paul to return to where he began his successful career in coaching.”
Coach Yetter will be on deck in his new position beginning the week of November 14, 2016.
