Paul Stafford Takes Helm Of Head Coach At Tucson Ford Aquatics
TUCSON, Arizona, September 19. TUCSON Ford Aquatics found its new head age group coach today, pulling Paul Stafford from his longtime home at Terrapins Swim Club in northern California. Stafford confirmed the hire today to Swimming World.
Stafford has led many swimmers from the Terrapins to success in the pool after being named head coach in 2006. Chelsea Chenault and Justin Lynch were two of his top swimmers, with Chenault making the 200 freestyle final at the 2012 Olympic Trials and Lynch breaking Michael Phelps’ national age group record in the 100 butterfly in 2013.
Stafford replaces Johno Fergusson, who had been Ford’s head coach since 2011. Stafford will enter a state that will not have the same level of competition as he experienced in the California Bay Area, but has several teams in the hunt for the state title.
