Paris Olympics: Chen Yiwen Keeps China 7 for 7 in Diving

China continued to dominate diving at the 2024 Paris Olympics with yet another gold-medal performance.

Chen Yiwen earned the gold medal on the women’s 3-meter springboard as the Chinese went 1-3 in the competition. Chang Yani took the bronze.

Australia’s Maddison Keeney split up the Chinese divers with a silver-medal performance.

It was China’s seventh gold medal in diving in Paris as the country is aiming for a sweep of all eight events, something that has never been done before.

China has won 54 of 71 gold medals in diving since the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Since the 2008 Beijing Games, China has won 34 of 39 gold medals in the sport.

Yiwen scored 376 points to earn the top spot in the finals and claim gold. Keeney scored 343.1 points, while Yani had a score of 318.75 to finish third.

Italy’s Chiara Pellacani finished just off the podium in fourth with a score of 309.6.

No American divers reached the final of the women’s 3-meter springboard in Paris.

China has one more event to pull off an unprecedented 8 for 8 sweep in Olympic diving.

Great Britain’s Yasmin Harper scored a 305.1 to finish fifth and Mexico’s Alejandra Estudillo Torres also topped 300 points with a score of 301.95 to finish sixth.
