Paradise Valley Country Club Seeking Assistant Aquatics Director
PARADISE VALLEY – The Paradise Valley Country Club, located in sunny central Arizona, is looking for an assistant aquatics director for its growing programs.
General Functions
Assist the Aquatics Director is responsible for the aquatics department and upholding Paradise Valley Country Club’s mission statement. The Assistant Aquatics Director assists in the daily operation of all swimming activities held at the club; helps promote interest and enjoyment of swimming programs to all members and members’ guest. The Assistant Aquatics Director maintains the best department appearance, with the focus on safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck, and surrounding areas. Enforce all rules in a polite and clear manner. The Assistant is the acting manager in the absence of the department head.
Requirements
• Two years minimum of pool management/supervisory experience
• Lifeguarding experience
• Two years swim coaching experience
• USA Swim Coach Certified
• Three years of instructing swim lessons to toddlers or younger
• Current state approved first-aid certification
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer
• Current Lifeguard certification
• Certified Pool Operator (preferred)
• Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) (preferred)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
Job Tasks/Duties
1. Member Experience
• Teach sound competitive swimming skills in a positive, healthy manner.
• Develops positive relationships with participants and provide motivational support and guidance.
• Organize and administer all assigned coaching responsibilities, including daily practices.
• Attend all swim team functions as assigned by manager.
• Teach swimming lessons to members and their families of all ages.
2. Supervisory /Administrative
• Balance pool chemicals to meet mandated levels/standards.
• Ensure all mechanical equipment is working properly and maintained on a regular basis.
• Assist in the hiring, promotion, disciplinary, and termination of all aquatics staff.
• Assist in facilitating in-service training for lifeguards.
• Assist in scheduling lifeguards for the appropriate shifts.
• Ensure all aquatic team members provide a safe and friendly environment for all members and guests.
• Set a high standard for the aquatics department by providing exceptional customer service and meeting the members’ needs and expectations.
3. Promotional
• Develop new programs for aquatics department.
• Market and promote aquatic programs and activities to the members.
• Update aquatics web page with current information on a regular basis.
• Make and distribute fliers for all aquatics programs.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to operate objects, tools and/or talk and/or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. During winter months you will be required to put on/take off all pool covers.
