Pan American Games: Paige Madden Leads Top Seeds For Day 1 (Heat Sheets)
The Pan American Games open on Saturday with a full slate of swimming as swimmers from around the Americas are set to represent their countries in Santiago, Chile.
The first day of swimming will see the 400 freestyle, the 100 breaststroke, the 200 butterfly and the 400 freestyle relay. Both the men and women will compete in each event with the women’s races preceding the men’s in each event on the schedule.
USA’s Paige Madden is the top seed in the women’s foo freestyle, while Brazil’s Guilherme Costa is the tops seed in the men’s 400 free.
Madden is one of five U.S. Tokyo Olympians on the Pan American Games roster, along with Brooks Curry, Erica Sullivan, Jay Litherland and Catie DeLoof.
Argentina’s MacArena Ceballos is the top seed in the women’s 100 breaststroke, while USA’s Noah Nichols is the tops in the men’s event.
USA’s Dakota Luther holds the top seed in the women’s 200 butterfly, while compatriot Mason Laur holds the top seed in the men’s event.
The USA is the top seed for both relays to start the Pan American Games.
The swimmer portion of the games will run from Oct. 21-25.
