Pac-12 Women’s Championships Day 1: Cal Sprints to 200 Medley Relay Win

The 2024 Pac-12 Women’s Championships opened from Federal Way, Washington, on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

The first night had two timed finals, the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay.

Cal won the 200 medley and Stanford won the 800 free relay after being disqualified in the medley.

Pac-12 Women’s 200 Medley Relay

Cal opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, finishing in 1:33.89.

Isabelle Stadden (23.64) led off, followed by Jade Neser (26.24), Mia Kragh (22.42) and Stephanie Akakabota (21.59).

USC finished second in 1:34.52 behind Caroline Famous (23.73), Kaitlyn Dobler (26.50), Anicka Delgado (22.36) and Vasilissa Buinaia (21.93).

Arizona’s Paige Armstrong, Maddy Ahluwalia, Julia Heimstead and Julia Wozniak finished third in 1:36.90.

Arizona State was fourth with Charli Brown, Zoe Summar, Ieva Maluka and Erin Milligan finishing in 1:37.50.

UCLA was fifth with Fay Lustria, Ana Jih-Schiff, Joanie Cash and Madeleine Wright getting to the wall in 1:37.68.

Washington State’s Anna Rauchholz, Emily Lundgren, Skylar Brgoch and Emma Wright took sixth in 1:39.78.

Utah’s Norah Hay, Erin Palmer, Kim Lanaghen and Reagan Cathcart finished seventh in 1:40.30.

Stanford was disqualified.

Pac-12 Women’s 800 Free Relay

Stanford bounced back from a DQ in the opening relay to win the 800 free relay to close out the first night of the Pac-12 Championships.

The Cardinal finished in 6:53.33, more than three seconds ahead of the field.

Natalie Mannion (1:43.67) led off, followed by Lillie Nordmann (1:43.38), Aurora Roghair (1:43.41) and Kayla Wilson (1:42.87).

Cal finished second with Ava Chavez, Mia Motekaitis, Rachel Klinker and Leah Polonsky getting to the wall in 6:56.81.

Arizona State’s Ieva Maluka, Lindsay Looney, Charli Brown and Molly Batchelor finished third in 6:58.41.

UCLA’s Brooke Schaffer, Gizem Guvenc, Maya Wilson and Paige MacEachern took fourth in 7:02.72.

USC was disqualified.
