Pac-12 Weekly Honors: Leon Marchand, Aurora Roghair Lead Award Winners
The Pac-12 Conference announced its weekly swimming and diving awards.
MEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Léon Marchand, Jr., ARIZONA STATE (Toulouse, France)
- Marchand went undefeated in his individual events on the weekend against a pair of top-10 opponents in No. 9 Stanford and No. 3 California.
- Against the No. 9 Cardinal, the junior picked up four individual wins, including a 200 IM win that tops NCAA Division I times (1:38.78) and a 200 Breast that ranks 6th amongst DI times (1:51.71).
- Additional wins in the 100 Breast (51.46) and 200 Medley Relay (1:22.24) helped the No. 1 Sun Devils to a 156.5-115.5 win against the Cardinal.
- Against the No. 3 Golden Bears, Marchand pulled out three more individual wins with a 100 Breast time (51.37) that puts him second amongst NCAA competitors.
- First-place finishes in the 200 Breast (1:51.80) and 200 IM (1:38.93) and a second-place 200 Medley Relay finish (1:21.77) helped the Devil’s to their second-highest point total against the Golden Bears (150).
- The junior has yet to lose an event in the month of January.
- Fourth career Pac-12 Men’s Swimmer of the Month/Week award and first this season (November 2022; Jan. 24, 2023; Feb. 7, 2023).

PAC-12 MEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Joshua Thai, So., CALIFORNIA (Alhambra, Calif.)
- Thai finished top-three in all four weekend events including three winning scores and a third-place finish.
- Against the No. 1 Sun Devils, the senior earned a first-place finishes in the 1-Meter (337.65) and 3 Meter (365.40), accomplishing season bests and improving his Zone E marks.
- In the Bears’ win over Arizona, Thai picked up a 1 Meter win (325.64) and a 3 Meter third-place finish (317.33).
- Second career Pac-12 Men’s Diver of the Month/Week award and first of the season (December 2022).

PAC-12 WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Aurora Roghair, Jr., STANFORD (Iowa City, Iowa)
- Roghair notched three individual wins and a second-place finish against No. 19 Arizona State and Arizona to keep the Cardinal undefeated on the season.
- Against the Sun Devils, the junior picked up wins in the 500 Free (4:39.94) and 1000 Free (9:29.24), earning her the nation’s second-fastest time of the season in the latter event.
- Additionally, Roghair’s second-place finish in the 200 Free (1:44.56) helped the Cardinal to a 191.5-98.5 win against the Devils.
- In their win over Arizona, the junior contributed points to the 178-110 victory with her first-place finish in the 200 Back (1:56.56).
- First career Pac-12 Women’s Swimmer of the Week award.
ALSO NOMINATED: Paige Armstrong, ARIZ; Mia Motekaitis, CAL; Claire Tuggle, USC; Emily Lundgren, WSU.
PAC-12 WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Brooke Earley, Jr., ARIZONA (Aliso Viejo, Calif.)
- Against No. 9 California and No. 10 Stanford, Earley went 3-for-4 in her diving events.
- Her performance at Cal led her to a first place finish in the 1 Meter (268.95) and 3 Meter (281.33).
- After improving her score by 12 points, Earley took home the top spot in the 1 Meter with a score of 280.95, going on to finish third on the podium in the 3 Meter (292.43).
- First career Pac-12 Women’s Diver of the Week award.
