Pablo Pareja Hands Purdue First 2026 Verbal Commitment

NEW COMMIT: Purdue University has earned its first public verbal commitment for Fall 2026 from Futures qualifier Pablo Pareja of Oak Park, Illinois. He’ll arrive on campus as a member of the Boilermakers’ Class of 2030.

He told Swimming World:

“I am beyond thrilled and grateful to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Purdue University! I would like to thank my parents and siblings, Coach Dave, and my other current and past coaches for all they’ve contributed to my growth as a person and swimmer. I would also like to thank Coach Alex and Coach James for this amazing opportunity! BOILER UP!!”

Pareja does his club swimming with FMC Aquatic Club and won the B-final of the 400m IM this past summer at Westmont Sectionals before going on to race five events at Minneapolis Futures. Back in the winter, he earned bronze in the 200 back at Illinois Seniors and finaled in three events at NCSA Championships.

His best times include:

  • 100 back – 49.69
  • 200 back – 1:48.49
  • 200 IM – 1:54.18
  • 400 IM – 4:10.07
  • 100 fly – 49.99

Currently a junior at Oak Park-River Forest High School, Pareja finished 15th in the 100 back and 16th in the 100 fly at the 2024 Illinois State Championships.
