Orange Knocks Off White At Texas Men’s Intrasquad Meet

AUSTIN, Texas, September 27. THE University of Texas’ Orange team defeated the White team 125-120 Friday night at the team’s annual Orange and White meet, led by triple event winner Will Licon.
The Orange squad jumped out to the lead early on with five straight victories to open the meet. Kip Darmody got things started with a 46.92 in the 100 back, before Licon grabbed the 100 breast win in 53.88 and Matt Ellis topped the 100 fly in 46.71. Sam Lewis (1000 free, 9:01.18) and Clay Youngquist (200 free, 1:35.09) won the next two events to give their team the lead.
Licon later added wins in the 200 IM (1:46.44) and 200 breast (1:57.99), while Youngquist topped the 100 free in 43.85.
The White team got wins from Brett Ringgold in the 50 free (19.81), Tripp Cooper in the 200 fly (1:46.88), Jack Conger in the 200 back (1:42.35) and Jonathan Roberts in the 500 free (4:22.44). The White squad also topped the lone relay of the day, the 400 free relay, in 2:55.00, ahead of the Orange team’s 2:57.63.
