Olympic Trials Qualifier Quintin McCarty Verbally Commits to NC State for 2022
NEW COMMIT: NC State University has received a new verbal commitment for their growing – and impressive – Class of 2026 from Olympic Trials qualifier Quintin McCarty of Colorado Springs, Colo.
He will join Drew Salls, Stephen Conrad, JT Ewing, Kyle Ponsler, Michael Cotter, Lance Norris, and Ryan Weaver in Raleigh in the fall of 2022.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am beyond thrilled to announce my commitment to North Carolina State University to continue my academic and athletic career! I want to thank my coaches and teammates at Pikes Peak Athletics, my friends, family, and most importantly, my parents for your endless support. I am extremely excited for the next chapter in my life!! Go Pack! ?♦️”
A versatile swimmer, McCarty does his club swimming with Pikes Peak Athletics and finished 12th overall in the 50m free at the Toyota U.S. Open in November en route to notching the Wave I Trials cut. In December 2019, he placed ninth in the 100 back and 14th in the 50 free at Juniors West in December.
His best times include:

- 100 free – 44.01
- 200 free – 1:40.75
- 50 back – 22.71
- 100 back – 47.75
- 200 back – 1:48.90
- 100 breast – 56.86
- 100 fly – 48.39
- 200 IM – 1:52.55
Currently a junior at Discovery Canyon High School, McCarty has earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts in the pool and in the classroom.
Under head coach Braden Holloway, the Wolfpack has also signed an impressive class for the fall of 2021 that includes Nathan Kempiak, Alexander Noergaard, Aiden Hayes, David Curtiss, Garrett Boone, Arsenio Bustos and Sam Hoover.
