Olivia Huffman gave the University of Kentucky another verbal commitment last night. Huffman, who swims for Crawfish Aquatics, is primarily a sprinter.
Huffman’s best times are (SCY/LCM):
- 50 Free: 23.86/27.27
- 100 Free: 51.55/58.33
- 200 Free: 1:56.42/2:09.35
- 100 Back: 57.62/1:06.51
- 100 Fly: 57.85/1:05.29
The senior at Dunham High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. At last season’s Louisiana Division 4 High School Championships she set the 50 and 100 freestyle state records. Huffman is a six time high school state champion through her first three years.
The Wildcats finished eighth at SECs last year. In the deep conference, it took a 49.95 to earn a finals swim in the 100 free last year. In that event, freshman Geena Freriks (50.12) was the Wildcats’ highest finisher in 29th. A 23.18 was the last time into the C final of the 50 freestyle. In the shorter sprint, Kentucky did not have a single swimmer.
Huffman could find her way onto some relays if she continues to improve. In the 400 freestyle relay last year the team’s splits ranged from 49.42 to 50.52. The tenth place 200 freestyle relay ranged from 22.84 to 23.26.
She’ll join Hayley Griesser, Jackie Hill and Nora Fullenkamp in the Class of 2021.
