Old Dominion Snags Commitment From Versatile Tara Enneking
NEW COMMIT: Forest, Va. native Tara Enneking has announced her in-state commitment to Old Dominion University and will join the Monarchs as a member of the class of 2023.
Enneking swims year-round with the Lynchburg YMCA and concluded her long course season with four lifetime bests and five second-swims at Virginia LCM Seniors. She raced four events at YMCA Nationals in April where she achieved two best times. Also swimming for Jefferson Forest High School, Enneking is a five-time Virginia 4A State Championship finalist. She was the runner-up in the 50 free as a junior after winning the 100 breast during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“The moment I stepped onto campus, I fell in love with Old Dominion University. The beautiful location of the school and tight-knit team atmosphere made me realize that ODU was where I wanted to be. I am so excited to be a Monarch!”
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 24.00
- 100 free – 52.43
- 100 back – 57.23
- 100 breast – 1:04.44
- 200 breast – 2:21.11
- 200 IM – 2:06.61
When she suits up for the Monarchs in the fall of 2020, Enneking’s versatility will be extremely valuable. She would’ve scored in the B-final of both breaststroke events as well as the C-final of the 200 IM and 100 free at the 2018 Conference USA Championships.
