Ohio State Picks Up Verbal From Three-Time Minnesota AA State Champion Reese Dehen
NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker and IMer Reese Dehan of Ramsey, Minn. has announced her verbal commitment to The Ohio State University as a member of the Buckeyes’ class of 2025.
She will join Mia Rankin, Nyah Funderburke, Allie Fenska, Teresa Ivan, Mackenzie DeWitt, Malia Rausch, Mairin O’Brien, Paige Hall and Gwen Woodbury in Columbus in the fall of 2021.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at THE Ohio State University!!! I’d like to thank my friends, family, coaches, teachers, and teammates for the endless support. I can’t wait to be part of such an amazing team and school. GO BUCKS!!! ?❤️”
A Junior National qualifier, Dehen raced three events at the Toyota U.S. Open in December before going on to place 15th in the 200m breast at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Des Moines in March. Last summer, she had three top-5 finishes at Minnesota LCM Seniors and placed eighth in the 100m breast and ninth in the 200m breast at NCSAs.
She does her club swimming with The Great Wolf Swim Team.
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 29.83
- 100 breast – 1:02.07
- 200 breast – 2:13.63
- 200 IM – 2:01.16
Also competing for Anoka High School, Dehan is a six-time Minnesota Class AA State Championship finalist. The NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 breast and 200 IM as a junior while taking second and first, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
Dehan will add valuable breaststroke depth to the Buckeyes’ lineup next fall and she will join a training group led by Hannah Bach and Josephine Panitz.
